The designer of the St.
Teresa Banner is artist Juanita Wenke. She is the mother of one of our
teachers, Ellen McGrath. The banner would not have been possible without
the time and talents of Beth Bollin, mother of a seventh grade student and
also a recent graduate. Beth helped choose the materials used to express
the design and sewed the banner together.
The
banner depicts the 2002 theme for Catholic Schools Week,
Where
Faith and Knowledge Meet.
St. Teresa
of Avila is shown overlooking a design of our school and the school
children. Part of a famous quote of St. Teresa of Avila, “God
never changes”, surrounds a background image of the sun. Just as
the sun remains a constant in our lives, so do the values we learn from
our Catholic Education.
The banner will be used for the Catholic Schools Week
liturgy on Wednesday, January 29 at the Cathedral. It will be carried by
an eighth grade student. We extend special thanks to both Juanita and
Beth for making this year’s banner possible!
