Youth Group Mission

The Youth Group’s mission is to create a community for 7th and 8th graders that is Spiritual, Social, and Service oriented. Some of the events throughout the year will strictly be intended to be fun and social, but the group’s intent is to also foster spirituality and a willingness to serve. We want to foster recognition that these three things do not exist on islands of their own. Rather, service and spirituality are fun and social when done with friends.

This group is open to all 7th and 8th-grade parishioners and school children of St. Teresa of Avila, and their friends. Meetings are each month in Avila Hall, from September – May. Meetings may include a service-oriented project. Please visit our Instagram page to see all the latest happenings.

We welcome high school and college-age leaders to be a part of Youth Group, serving as a volunteer, please contact youthgroup@stteresa-avila.org to learn more!

Youth Group Member Pledge

As a member of the St. Teresa Youth Group, I realize I am acting as a representative of St. Teresa of Avila | St. William Church and School, and therefore I pledge to act at all times in a manner that brings respect to my church and my school. If my behavior were the only contact a stranger had with St. Teresa of Avila or St. William, they would think highly of the church and school and respect it as a true community of Christians.

Since one of the main goals of the Youth Group is to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and accepted, I pledge to always treat the other members of Youth Group with respect. This includes being kind and compassionate towards them; welcoming and including them in activities; accepting them for whom they are; and generally treating them as I would want to be treated. I understand that every member of our Youth Group needs and deserves the respect and support of the entire group, and that when this respect and support is denied to any member, it hurts the entire Youth Group.

I pledge to respect and obey trip/event chaperones at all times. This means observing the rules they establish and responding to their requests the first time. I understand the rules and guidelines they establish are in place to create a safe and Christian atmosphere in which the Youth Group can operate.

I have read this pledge, I am aware of what is expected of me as a member of the St. Teresa of Avila Youth Group, and agree to abide by this pledge at all times during Youth Group activities (both at St. Teresa Church and School, and during off-site activities and trips). I understand that failure to abide by this pledge may result in the loss of Youth Group privileges, including restrictions on attending future activities, as well as the possibility of being sent home early from an activity or trips at my (or my parent’s) expense.
